Think Like a Computer

Learn the history of computers and computing in the same way that conservators learn the history of book and paper making, writing, and printing to care for physical collections. A variety of games and exercises are used to teach core concepts in logic and computing, and a review of computer history shows how the specific preservation problems in digital systems relate to fundamental preservation issues across all media.

Jake Nadal is executive director of the Research Collections and Preservation Consortium, Inc. (ReCAP). He works with partners to make sure that ReCAP is meeting their immediate needs for access to their research collections, and to make sure ReCap is doing the things that are necessary for the success of the partnership in the future.
