Author and National Book Award finalist Karen Yamashita reads from her latest novel, I-Hotel. The decade-long narrative, structured as a series of 10 novellas starting in 1968, follows a motley cast of students, laborers, artists, revolutionaries, and provocateurs as they become caught in a riptide of politics, clashing ideologies, and personal turmoil, as they fight to save the International Hotel, a center of the Yellow Power Movement. Yamashita is also the author of Through the Arc of the Rain Forest, Brazil-Maru, Tropic of Orange, and Circle K Cycles.
