Francis J. Bremer

Francis J. Bremer is Professor Emeritus of History at Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Editor of the Winthrop Papers for the Massachusetts Historical Society. He is the author of over a dozen books on puritans and puritanism in the Atlantic world, including the prize-winning John Winthrop: America’s Forgotten Founding Father and, most recently, Lay Empowerment and the Development of Puritanism. He is coordinator of New England Beginnings, a partnership of historical organizations and scholars for the commemoration of the cultures that shaped New England.
