Curtis J. Evans, assistant professor at the University of Chicago Divinity School discusses the construct of the "Black church" in the United States. He argues that despite social and political portrayals of a monolithic Black church, there is a tremendous diversity of religious, social, and political beliefs found in the religious institutions that African Americans frequent.
