Alan Cumming: You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams

SUN, SEP 25, 2016 (1:08:35)

On every page of his third book, You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams, Alan Cumming recounts his real-life adventures (and often, misadventures), each illustrated by his own equally entertaining photographs.

From an awkward bonding session with Elizabeth Taylor to poignant stories about his family and friends to some harsh words of wisdom imparted by Oprah that make up the title of this collection, You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams is as eclectic, enchanting, and alive as its author.

+ BIO: Jared Bowen

Jared Bowen is the sole reporter with WGBH-TV’s nightly news magazine program, Greater Boston with Emily Rooney and is a guest contributor to Boston Common magazine. At Greater Boston, Bowen’s coverage takes him from breaking news to politics to arts and culture, which he covers in the show’s popular “Center Stage with Jared Bowen” segments. He has also produced four news documentaries for the program and he produced three seasons of WGBH’s Eye on Education initiative. He is the recipient of two New England Emmy awards.   Prior to joining WGBH, Jared was awarded a fellowship with the International Radio & Television Society, which placed him at Dateline NBC in New York.   He is a graduate of Emerson College where he also won several Associated Press awards for his reporting.

+ BIO: Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming is the author of two previous books: Tommy’s Tale: A Novel of Sex, Confusion, and Happy Endings and the memoir Not My Father’s Son. He has also had an exhibition of his photographs, Alan Cumming Snaps! His day job is acting, and most recently he was seen on TV as Eli Gold in the CBS drama The Good Wife, on Broadway in his Tony Award–winning role as the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret, and in concert, touring the world with his cabaret show, Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs, which was also released as a live album. Alan is also a loudmouth—sorry, activist—who believes that knowledge is power and equality is a right, not a privilege.
