Swimming with Dolphins

September 18, 2007
Jonathan Bird underwater cinematographer

Jonathan Bird presents a slide show and talk on his experiences with wild dolphins in the Bahamas.

For over 10 years, Bird has been traveling to the Bahamas to swim with wild Spotted Dolphins. He has learned about their habits and behaviors, as well as how to interact with them. Unlike fish or sharks, dolphins actively interact with swimmers when conditions are right, leading to an amazing experience for both.

Jonathan Bird has shot and produced over 20 films for broadcast and education. His films have appeared all over the world, on networks such as National Geographic Channel, PBS, ABC, USA Network, Discovery and even the SciFi Channel. His current projects include an educational television series about the ocean for kids called Jonathan Bird's Blue World and a feature-length HD documentary about coral reef animals called Secrets of the Reef.
