New World Order: State of the Arts Field
August 27, 2009
Craig Aaron senior program director, Free Press
Joaquin Alvarado vice president, Diversity and Innovation, CPB
Holly Sidford president, Helicon Collaborative
San San Wong director, grants, San Francisco Arts Commission
In the opening plenary of the 2009 National Alliance for Media, Art, and Culture (NAMAC), speakers address the threats and opportunities in their field from the perspective of four factors that affect their work: the economy, policy, technology, and culture.
Since the NAMAC community last gathered in 2007, our world has transformed dramatically. We have seen an economic collapse, a political sea change, evolutions in technology, shifting demographics, evolving audiences. The speakers in this panel discuss what it all means for media, arts, and culture.
