In this forum, leaders in the Expanded Learning movement describe their work and discuss the progress they are making. To raise achievement levels and close achievement gaps, practitioners, researchers and policymakers alike are rethinking the role of time. The "Expanded Learning" model extends the school day and aims to integrate quality programs and practices throughout the day. According to advocates, it promotes a well-rounded education, keeps kids safe while parents are at work, and attends to health and social-emotional needs.
