It’s Complicated: The American Teenager

October 30, 2008
Robin Bowman photojournalist

Robin Bowman shares the story of her four-year journey to capture the essence of today’s youth: 22,000 miles, 419 interviews, and countless photographs of teenagers from many backgrounds and regions. The images from this odyssey underscore the breathtaking ethnic, religious, economic, and cultural diversity that defines this generation of Americans. The resulting book, It’s Complicated: The American Teenager won the Gold Medal in the Photography category of the 2008 Independent Publishers Book Awards.
