Exploring the Island of South Georgia, Antarctica

February 8, 2007
Tim Carr yachtsman, photographer
Pauline Carr yachtswoman, photographer

Tim and Pauline Carr give a breathtaking virtual yacht tour of the South Georgia Island area of Antartica, where they have lived for 14 years.

In this presentation the Carrs circumnavigate the island with their audience, capturing some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The tour begins in the their tiny, engineless, century-old yacht, Curlew, then moves to an overview of Bird Island, where albatross nest, and to Possession Bay, where Captain Cook first landed. Further down the east coast is Stromness Bay, where polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and his team found help at the end of their danger-filled journey to rescue the crew of the Endurance.
