Bill 'Spaceman' Lee on the Art and Science of Pitching
August 9, 2008
Bill Lee pitcher, Boston Red Sox (1969-1978)
Bill 'Spaceman' Lee discusses pitching mechanics; pitch grips, selection, and sequence; and the importance of timing, location, control, and mental toughness. Nicknamed the Spaceman for his free-spirited personality, Bill Lee is one of the best left-handed pitchers ever to don a Boston Red Sox uniform, and one of the most unforgettable characters ever to play the game. On November 7, 2008, Lee is inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame as the team record holder for the most games pitched by a lefty (321) and as the southpaw with the third-highest win total (94).
