Arctic Warming
Jonathan Waterman photographer
In 2006, National Geographic sent Jonathan Waterman to investigate the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. While conferring with Alaskan scientists studying climate change and oil development, the expedition revealed melting permafrost, unnatural predation of nesting birds, brushed over tundra, disappearing glaciers and dying forests. In this talk, he illuminates the ongoing political controversy and how audience members can take action to neutralize global warming and Arctic oil drilling.
Jonathan Waterman is best known for his time exploring the north, which he detailed in six books and in journals such as the Washington Post, Adventure, Rock and Ice, Hooked On the Outdoors, Outside, Backpacker and Climbing.
